on May 12, 2011, shows data for age, sex, race, Hispanic or Latino
origin, household relationship, household type, group quarters population,
housing occupancy, and housing tenure for the City of San Jose.

San Jose City Council Districts
On June 23, 2011, these same demographic profile data were released
by the Census Bureau at smaller levels of census geography (e.g.,
census tracts, blocks). Thus, given final adoption of a redistricting
ordinance effective October 13, 2011, staff has compiled this data
for each new City Council District. Select the appropriate links
below.

| AMERICAN COMMUNITY
SURVEY (ACS) |
On September 20, 2012, the U.S. Census Bureau released 1-year estimates
from the American Community Survey (ACS), an ongoing survey of about
3.5 million randomly selected addresses that provides data every
year. ACS 2011 is based on data collected during calendar year 2011.
A compilation of data that includes select demographic, social,
economic, and housing characteristics is downloadable in either
an Excel or PDF file format, by selecting the appropriate link below.

| DEMOGRAPHICS PRESENTATION

On March 16, 2012, City staff conducted a demographics presentation
for San Jose employees. This presentation had a focus on citywide
demographic findings and trends from Census 2010, but also included
select, recent data from the Census Bureau’s annual American
Community Survey and from the California Department of Finance.
